Delighted to be picked as law firm's chosen charity of 2020

Updated: Jan 20, 2020

On Monday we received a very exciting phone call to confirm that we have been chosen as St James Square Law Firm’s charity of the year! We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen for this fantastic partnership in 2020 and it was a wonderful way to kick start our week.

St James’ Square is a cost effective, high quality law firm providing advice for businesses and individuals, based right here in the North-East. Each year the team vote for a charity that they would like to support and we are so grateful that we have been the lucky benefactors this year round. As we receive no statutory funding and rely solely on the support and generosity of local organisations and individuals to raise enough money to continue the vital work we do, it is with support from businesses like St James Square Law firm that we can do just that.

In 2018 we recorded a 35% increase in application submissions from families and organisations. Demand has never been so high and now more than ever we need the support of the North-East to help us provide equipment for children living with disabilities. We’re not means tested as we believe, regardless of a family's financial situation or income, every child with a disability has the right to have access life changing equipment they so desperately need. It is reported that the North East has some of the highest numbers of children registered as disabled in the UK. The Chronicle Sunshine Fund estimate that there are over 18,000 children living with a disability in the areas that we support and this number continue to grow.

“We’re delighted that our staff voted to support the great work done by the team at The Chronicle Sunshine Fund. As they receive no statutory funding, and rely solely on donations, we felt that they really needed our support. The difference the Charity makes in the lives of babies and children, living with disabilities, in our region is absolutely amazing and we want to help them raise even more this year” says Deb Ions from St James Square, and we couldn’t be happier.

We cannot wait to get to work with the team and we know they already have such great fundraising ideas to ensure that we are going above and beyond this year. Already the team has shown such passion for our cause and we look forward to making a real difference with their help.

This week we have also been contacting our shortlisted superstars for this year’s annual Glass Slipper Awards. On Friday 28th February we host an afternoon celebration of remarkable women across the North East. Situated at The Hilton Gateshead, we recognise inspiring females from our region, across 7 categories, from women in business, to young achiever, local community’s and lifetime achievements.

The Glass Slipper Awards is a truly incredible afternoon and one not to be missed and with this year’s shortlisting we are confident it is going to be the most inspiring one to date. Tickets are now on sale for the event, so if you would like to come along and be a guest in one of the most uplifting rooms in the North-East, please head to our website or give us a call for more details.
