IMPORTANT EQUIPMENT UPDATE - AUGUST 2026

Due to significant challenges in equipment funding and high demand throughout 2026, we will be pausing new applications for equipment from 30th September 2026.  Applications will remain open as normal until that date. After 30th September, our equipment programme will temporarily close while we work to secure further funding.

We are deeply sorry to anyone who was planning to apply after September, especially at a time when disabled children’s services are facing so much uncertainty.

This pause reflects the reality of the current landscape, not a change in our commitment. We remain determined to reopen applications as soon as possible and will continue to provide updates as plans progress.

Thank you for your understanding, and for standing with us during a difficult period for children, families, and the charities who support them.

Our Family Co-ordinator is still available for support or to discuss any future applications. Contact Bev by phone or email at 07593 298 541 or Bev.Wright@thesunshinefund.org.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a local North East charity that provides specialist and adapted equipment to children aged 0-19 living with disabilities, additional needs, chronic and terminal illness. The types of equipment we can fund are not available through statutory services like the Local Authority or NHS; yet they are vital to the daily life of our Sunshine kids. These specific pieces of equipment enrich quality of life for not only the children, but their wider families and communities.

Parents, Carers, and organisations can apply to us via filling in our simple online application form and receive support from our experienced Family Coordinator.  If you're a professional or group leader, we can also offer guest speaking and outreach support.

We offer free accessible, inclusive family events throughout the year, where families can get support and advice from our team and siblings can play alongside each other. We believe in a whole family approach to the services we provide so our sessions are designed to offer opportunities for families to explore and play together.
