At The Sunshine Fund, we're committed to providing the best opportunities for the babies, children and young people we support in the North East, and removing barriers that may prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Whether this is through funding life-changing pieces of equipment, providing access to inclusive and accessible activities and events, or offering support and guidance to families navigating their own personal journeys.

For the last 2 years, we have continued to grow our numbers of runners each year, and with that we have been able to support more local families. As we approach our 100th anniversary in 2028, we are passionate about having a prominent presence at the region's most iconic running event, and our ethos of uniting kids with their equipment as quickly as possible remains as strong as ever.

By running for Team Sunshine, you know that everything you raise will stay in the North East region, making a direct difference to local communities. We are proud to be able to tell you exactly where your donations have gone, and you can share that pride knowing you've helped a child, or multiple children, live a more comfortable, more fulfilling life.

Please note that by completing the form below you are reserving a charity space with us in 2027. We will receive confirmation of our spaces before the end of 2026 and in the (very) unlikely case that we are not allocated the spaces we request from Great Run, we will let you know straight away and you will receive a full refund.

Terms & Conditions

1. Due to the nature of Great North Run and the process of applying for charity spaces, we won't have confirmation of our spaces until the end of 2026. In the (very) unlikely case that we are not allocated the spaces we request from Great Run, we will let you know straight away and you will receive a full refund.

2. Once you have booked your space with us, you will then need to complete your registration through the official Great North Run platform, LetsDoThis. We will receive access to this early in 2027. Failure to complete your registration will mean your space is not confirmed in the run. If you haven't completed your registration by the end of June 2027 and if we do not hear from you, you risk losing your space with us.

3. If you sign up and discover you are no longer able to run for us, please let us know as soon as you can. We have until July 2027 to refill spaces so the earlier you let us know, the sooner we can replace the space.

4. We will issue a full refund to spaces cancelled or unclaimed before the end of June 2027.

5. By taking a charity space with us, you commit to fundraising at least £300 to help us deliver specialist equipment to children living with disabilities, additional needs and terminal illness in the North East.
