Our lottery turns 1!

Sunshine News Column Friday 1st October 2021

Hello Sunshine news Readers

Happy October! This week we are celebrating one year of The Chronicle Sunshine Fund lottery. Each week players can take part for just £1 per ticket with a chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000! The best bit about our lottery is for every £1 ticket, we receive 50p direct so it mean we can continue to raise funds to meet the growing demand on our services. We are guaranteed to have a local winner each week and we love hearing from our supporters who have won. Mrs W from Gosforth said “Wow, I’m shocked, I never win anything!!!!” while Mrs R from Newcastle added “Im so happy to play The Chronicle Sunshine Fund lottery and support this wonderful cause. Its win win for me. The odds of winning a cash prize are much higher than with other lotteries and I get to support my favourite charity at the same time.” If you haven't signed up yet, you're missing out!

Have you heard? Events are back! Pre pandemic, around 67% of our income was generated through fundraising events so you will understand how happy we are that we can start to engage with our supporters again face to face and host the fabulous events we are known for. So much goes into the planning and preparation of an event like our annual ball, but its always worth it on the night! Our events cant happen with out our volunteers donating their time and making sure everything goes to plan. We have some fantastic events taking place in the coming weeks from our Noche Del Sol Ball with our fabulous partners St James Square law Firm, to our top secret Christmas events with Stagecoach and Tesco... and we need your help! Perhaps you are an individual with some spare time, looking for ways to up skill and improve your CV, or maybe you work for an organisation who encourages staff to volunteer in work time, who fancies a fun day out of the office. Whether you can donate a couple of hours, half a day or even a full day we are exceptionally grateful. Please visit our website for more details about volunteering and how to register to receive our volunteering communications.

Speaking of our ball, its nearly here, eeekkkk! We have been supported by some wonderful local businesses with ball prizes to support our on the night fundraising such as Rio Steak House, No 28, Cake Stories and Lucy Hair and Tan to name but a few. We have loved engaging with them on social media and show casing what fantastic businesses we have in our local area. We are still in need for prize vouchers from £10.00 to £50.00, if you can help us with a voucher donation please get in touch via our social media accounts!

We are fast approaching the deadline date for making an application to our October equipment round, our wonderful panel of medical and social professionals meet to assess your applications in under two weeks time. We can provide equipment not available through the NHS or social services such as powered wheelchairs, specialist beds, walking frames and sensory equipment. If you have any questions about our application process or would like to find out if we can support your family, please get in touch with our Families Coordinator Bev on Beverley.wright@reachplc.com who is always happy to have a chat!

Thanks for reading. See you next week!
