The Sunshine Mile -
BRAND NEW for 2026!
As we enter our 23rd year of The Sunshine Run 5K, we wanted to bring some little rays of sunshine to the day, and give schools an opportunity to get involved and support local children living with disabilities.
We are inviting schools and/or groups to walk an interactive, educational and fun-filled 1-mile circular route along Newcastle's iconic Quayside, over the Swing Bridge, along the Gateshead side and back over the Millennium Bridge.
The route will be self-guided with volunteers along the way, and we will provide a map and worksheets for your young learners to complete. All participants will receive a certificate and goodie bag upon completion of The Sunshine Mile.
Entry is free, however we encourage each child to raise at least £5, which will help us create brighter futures for babies, children and young people living with complex needs here in the North East.
Please note: this is a self-guided walk and schools are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children.
FREE | Booking essential
£5 fundraising target per child
We expect the route to take up to 60 minutes to complete.
Sessions will be in 20 minute intervals from 10:00 am - 13:00 pm.
