We all have a right to be included in life

Hi Sunshine News readers

Happy National Inclusion week! We are proud to be a charity who champions inclusion. Many of the children we support face barriers and prejudice and we are extremely passionate about ensuring our children and young adults have the best opportunities and quality of life that are available to them and that they have the happiness they deserve. We strongly believe that regardless of ability or disability, you have a place in our community and have a right to feel included in all you do.

It’s been another busy week here at Sunshine HQ as we continue to purchase life changing specialist equipment for the children we support. We are also preparing for our next equipment panel meeting which will take place in November. The effects of Covid 19 have meant that applications from desperate families and organisations supporting children with disabilities have flooded in. We are extremely fortunate that we have been able to continue to provide our services throughout the pandemic, even with skeleton staffing, so that we can support families when they need us the most.

Earlier this week, Lauren and I took some time out to visit our friends at 8K in their new Gateshead studios and we were super impressed with the facilities. It’s a really high tech, creative space suitable for recording artists and actors and it’s a great benefit to the region. The purpose of the visit was really to thank 8K for the amazing, world record smashing podcast that raised over £10,000 for us over summer however when we arrived and we all started brain storming…. We will have some exciting news and collaborations to share with you soon! Check them out on Facebook to learn more about what they do and how you can get involved.

Also this week we celebrated with our first The Chronicle Sunshine Fund Lottery Winner! Our first draw took place last Saturday night and we all waited nervously to find out which of our lovely supporters had won. Just after 8pm we received the notification that Miss J was our first ever TCSF Lottery winner! Congratulations to you Miss J, we hope you treat yourself to something nice! Don t forget our lottery is weekly, so you can purchase tickets today for tomorrow night’s draw. Simply visit our website for full details, it’s quick and easy to do and we could be celebrating with you next week!

Don t forget, you can support our work for free by following us on social media, sharing our posts with friends and family or by choosing us as your charity when shopping on Amazon Smile. This won’t cost you a penny but will mean the world to us!

Stay safe and well.

Siobhan
