Happy February! And what a month its turning out to be already Sunshine News Readers.

We kicked off the new month by sharing some phenomenal funding news! We have been granted a substantial grant from the Charities Aid Foundation’s Resilience Fund. The donation of £55, 586 will ensure we can continue our charitable mission and be here for North East families when they need us most. The Resilience Fund was open to charities from all over the UK and was heavily oversubscribed so we are honored to be one of the few charities supported. Regular readers will remember we were granted £3,000 from CAF to support our urgent appeal at the start of the pandemic and their continued support is a life line to us. We are grateful that the wonderful team at CAF have taken the time to really get to know us as a charity and they share our vision of a more inclusive future for children with disabilities. Our small charity was founded back in 1928 and since then we have helped thousands of children, families, organisations and schools. The pandemic hit us hard and 2020 was a rough year, we want to ensure we can be here for families for many years still to come and for us, every donation counts. So lets keep the good news coming!

We are thrilled to announce that our friends at St James Square have made a very generous donation of £5,000 to @thechroniclesunshinefund to help us continue our charitable mission of supplying babies, children and young adults living with disabilities in our region with the life changing equipment they desperately need. Not only that, but we are proud to announce the extension of our charity of the year partnership with the Newcastle based law firm until 2022 and the wonderful folk at St James Square have pledged to raise £20,000 for our charity this year!!!

Our charity director Siobhan said "To say we are blown away by the generosity of Paul Monaghan and his team at St James Square would be a huge understatement. From our very first presentation to the staff, we knew what a special team they were and we could tell that they genuinely shared our passion for supporting children with disabilities. We want to say a special thank you to staff and clients who contributed to this donation. We are looking forward to working together again this year!"

Paul Monaghan, Managing Partner, said ‘As a leading commercial law firm, we believe it is important to take the time to give back to the community. It has always been our ethos to go the extra mile and so we decided to raise monies for North East children who suffer from severe disabilities and who get no government funding.

We are delighted to support The Chronicle Sunshine Fund throughout 2021 and 2022. Despite only being formed in 2017, we are on track to raise over £100,000 for North East children’s charities by 2022. This is a remarkable achievement in such a short space of time. We are eternally grateful for the support, time and effort given by all of the amazing staff at St James’ Square Law Firm and for the support given by our wonderful clients.’

Now, they say good news comes in threes so Im off to buy some more tickets for this weeks The Chronicle Sunshine Fund Lottery draw!

Stay safe and well.
