Help us spread Christmas joy
Its Christmas Jumper day!
We’ve been having a giggle at the photos we've received so far and we cant wait to see your Christmas Jumper pictures throughout the weekend, dont forget to tag us on social media! You can tag us on Facebook @sunshinefund, or on Twitter and Instagram using the handle @sunshine_fund. Thank you to everyone who has taken part and helped us spread a little festive Sunshine.
Throughout December, we will be sharing stories of some of the families we are supporting through our November equipment round in The Chronicle. We have over £50,000 worth of specialist equipment to fund such as an all terrain wheelchair costing £2,500 and a Ppod Chair, which costs £1,016. We also have children waiting for items to meet even their most basic needs like a specialist bed costing £5,800. We cant do this without you. Please help us to ensure local children with disabilities can live safely and comfortably. You can support our Christmas appeal by making a one off donation and this year we've made it even easier to support us. You can make a bank transfer, send a cheque or make a one off text donation of £5 by texting Sunshine5 to 70085. For full details please see our website www.thesunshinefund.org Help us help them this Christmas.
Our Christmas plans look very different this year and we are mindful that many of us will not be celebrating Christmas the way we usually do, or with the loved ones we would normally see. We asked the team, what are you looking forward to most about this Christmas because now more than ever, we need to share some Christmas cheer!
Charity Director Siobhan said “My children are getting older and this year they very literally sat me down and said no more grottos, Santa Train rides, festive scavenger hunts, Reindeer feeding, nothing! BAH HUMBUG!
But thats the thing about Christmas traditions, they can change and grow as your family does. So for 2020 Ive started some new traditions, Ive bought lots of crafts for us to do together while we drink hot chocolate and eat Christmas treats and extra advent calender's along with the usual chocolate versions, like a hot chilli one and a jelly bean roulette (for the comedy element). Im guessing we will be swapping Home Alone for Die Hard but Christmas movie nights together will still be lots of fun and we will still be spending quality time together! That's the main thing”
After a busy year, Our Office and Events Manger Rebecca, is looking forward to some much needed downtime “I love Christmas Eve, even more than Christmas day and this year will be the same as ever. I’ll get cosy with some new Christmas Pjs, watch a Christmas movie and drink mulled wine while I wait for Santa! Bliss!”
Digital Fundraising manager Lauren, our resident foodie and Vegan (Did she mention shes a vegan? We feel she keeps it pretty quiet to be honest….) is looking forward to all of the delicious Christmas food she can cook up in her new kitchen! Vegan friendly, obviously.
Families Coordinator Rachel cant wait to make special memories with her family and with two young children the magic of Christmas is still very much alive in her house! Siobhan is secretly jealous…. Rachel said “I love seeing all the Christmas lights, its so magical and I think people will go all out decorating their homes this year. My absolute favourite part of Christmas is seeing peoples reactions when they open their gifts!”
Our Fundraiser Ashleigh has got her hands full this Christmas. “This is our first Christmas with our new pooch, Barney! We got him in summer and I honestly cant remember life without him tearing around the house! He chews everything, causes mayhem and gets up to mischief with my son but he is a part of the family and we cant wait to spend Christmas with him! As you can see from the photo, he isn't quite in the Christmas spirit yet…..”
Whatever your plans, we are sending you lots of love, peace and best wishes. Remember there are better days ahead for all of us. Be kind to yourselves.
Lots of love
