Events season is coming

Hi Sunshine news readers,

I hope you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed the (partial) sunshine.

The family and I headed down to Whitely Bay for fish and chips which is our bank holiday tradition.

We missed Prime Minister Boris Johnson on his North East visit by a couple of hours!

I would have liked to have caught him to highlight the struggles families of disabled children are facing in our region…

As we head towards events season at breakneck speed, many of the team are out and about meeting with corporate and charity partners at the minute.

It's great to be back at face to face meetings again although we are drinking a lot of coffee right now.

Last week I met with Claire and Bronia from Mincoffs to chat about the difficulties the charity has faced throughout the pandemic and the plethora of events we are hosting for supporters and families this year.

It was lovely to catch up in their newly refurbished Jesmond offices.

Mincoffs have supported the Sunshine Fund for many years and are huge champions of our Go Bananas campaign.

They have attended many of our events such, as our much loved Glass Slipper Awards celebrating women in the North East, and have even previously held the title of Biggest

Team for our Annual Christmas Jumper Day.

In turn, we are big fans of their Fizz in the City events which take place at The Crowne Plaza hotel every quarter.

In addition to the cupcakes and prosecco on offer, it’s a fantastic opportunity for a small charity like ours to meet and mingle with some of the most respected and well connected business women in our region.

There’s always a lot of camaraderie in the room and it’s a wonderful, supportive environment for ladies in business.

So we were thrilled when the team at Mincoffs asked us to be the charity partner for their summer themed event on Friday, June 10!

You all know The Chronicle Sunshine Fund team love any excuse to spread some sunshine.

Claire Fenwick, marketing and business development manager at Mincoffs Solicitors said: “The Sunshine Fund is an incredible charity which provides immeasurable support to families across the North East and beyond.

“We are delighted to be fundraising for them at our summer Fizz in the City event, which is not only great fun but also a fantastic networking opportunity for women in business.

“New faces are always welcome and we’re going all out for our sunshine theme next month, so we’re looking forward to hosting a brilliant afternoon raising money for an amazing cause.”

Fizz in the City is always a great way to end your working week and with this events summer theme we are sure you’ll all be in the mood for a cracking weekend ahead. No suntan cream required and not a mosquito in sight!

Tickets are limited, if you would like to join us for an afternoon of fizz and fun, please email the team at Mincoffs direct.

Sunglasses and sarongs are optional…
