Happy Friday everyone!
How on earth are we heading into the last weekend of November already? Autumn has absolutely flown by! Christmas is well and truly upon us as I’m sure many households will be putting their tree up this weekend and either finishing, or starting, their Christmas shopping (I’m the latter by the way)!
I also can’t believe that we’re just 2 weeks away from Christmas Jumper Day already! Our Christmas Jumper Day falls a little earlier this year as the following week is utter magical chaos for team Sunshine as we join Stagecoach and take the Santa’s Grotto Bus to Northumberland street for a 7-day Santa-fest, spreading joy to children of all ages from Monday 12th December (but that is for another column!). So, we thought why not kick-off Christmas tradition early this year and what better way to get into the festive spirit than to dust off our Christmas Jumpers and wear the them to work or school. Many of the last 2 years’ worth of Christmas Jumper Day pics have been from homes with a few snaps of virtual teams calls too, but this year we hope to see more pictures of our supporters back in the workplace and enjoying a good old fashioned fundraiser with friends and colleagues. Schools are also welcome to take part and are free to change the date of their own event to fall in line with the last day of term.
So, if you’d like to join us on Friday 9th December for our annual Christmas Jumper Day, to support children across our region who are desperately waiting for life-changing and specialist equipment, just drop me an email (Siobhan.sargeant@thesunshinefund.org) so that I can send you our official flyer and donation information. You can even take part as a household and make a donation from your family instead of sending Christmas cards this year! Simply text SUNSHINE 2 to 70085 to make a one-of donation through your phone bill. If you’re able to donate more, you can visit our website for more to donate, or text to give £1-£20 by changing the number in your message: www.thesunshinefund.org/donate.
This week, our Fundraising and Events Coordinator, Erin, was invited to a bake sale hosted by Laura and the team at the Newcastle University Devonshire Building. Erin very kindly brought some cakes back to the office for the team so our Monday this week was just perfect! Thanks to everyone who took the time to bake and donate. Newcastle University hosted their bake sale in support of The Great Sunshine Bake and will be in with a chance of sending their ‘Star Baker’ to our live final on Thursday 8th December at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park who are our sponsors for the challenge. There’s some tough competition between some of the bakes we’ve already sample so we can’t wait to see some of the showstoppers produced in our final!
That’s all from us this week, enjoy your weekend!
Siobhan
