Hi Sunshine News readers
This is our final column of the year! And what a year its been, to say its been an emotional roller coaster would be a real understatement. We have been honoured to provide families, both old and new, from all over our region with life changing equipment. From eye gazers for communication to home lifts to help their children access different areas in their own homes. Each piece of equipment told a story, and had an impact, and we are proud to be a part of our families journeys. This year saw our highest ever number of applications in one quarter, a stark reminder of the impact of Covid 19 and how much our families have struggled. We have also shared our families successes, from children using the equipment we purchased to communicate for the first time, to finding their independence with a new wheel chair or walking frame we have provided, these moments have been priceless.
We've been thrilled to win new charity of the year partnerships and we have been saddened to hear about how many long time charity partners have struggled due to the pandemic. There’s been no doubt our region has suffered great losses. One thing has remained constant, and that is the love and commitment we have had from our loyal supporters who are as passionate as we are about ensuring that kids living with disabilities, life limiting conditions and terminal illnesses in our region get the equipment they need.
This year you have helped us support hundreds of children living with disabilities in the North East in a time when the world stopped, our loyal supporters stood up and helped us keep fighting.
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021 to all of our Sunshine News Readers. We’ll be back in January with more stories, events and news to share. Until then, stay safe and well and thank you for supporting our children and their families during 2020.
Lots of love
Team Sunshine
